Reviewing Moo Luxe & Regular Business Cards

During the past year, fifty million Moo business cards got created and shipped..

One year later, the company expects to double that.

Is this great success well deserved? Now that I have examined both Moo’s basic and luxe business cards, my viewpoint is that it is.

This is my extensive Moo luxe review plus a glimpse at some ways Moo.com is preferable to the majority of the well known business card printers.

Innovative Offerings:

You can easily create plain jane business cards virtually anywhere.

However, if you want your cards to show off up to a whopping fifty unique designs or pictures per set, Moo is the solution.

Given my marketing background, I believe multiple images in one pack is one of the most significant new developments within the business card space in recent years, because of all the unique marketing opportunities it creates.

For example…

  • A dessert designer can market both wedding cakes, kids cakes, and anything in between
  • Beauty parlors can showcase nail art designs or varieties of hairstyles
  • Retail shops or boutiques can send prospective buyers home with a photo of the product they are thinking about
  • A fitness expert can supply home weight loss / exercise tips
  • A photographer can showcase scenic pictures on one business card, family portraits on another, etc.
  • A bakery can showcase numerous pictures or even recipes that customers can “collect”
  • Artists can showcase a wide selection of their work

To me there is absolutely nothing more upsetting than a business card that fails to create any impression or advance the sale. The Moo “multiple-image” approach practically forces customers to conceptualize their business card as a sales tool, as opposed to a contact card. And for that reason, they’re more apt to be kept, remembered… and shared with others.

Also, Moo’s quality (including print and paper quality) ranks among the finest I have come across.

Various other alternatives/add-ons consist of mini business cards, rounded corners, a 100% recycled cardstock, as well as an uber-heavy, 32-point cardstock (see Moo Luxe section down below), providing you with a few different options for standing out.

Moo Standard Business Cards:

I got myself a 50-pack of their traditional business cards and uploaded a variety of family snapshots so I could experience the business card builder. It proved very easy to utilize and customize with my images and contact info.

The cards arrived on a rather impressive 15.5 point stock.

Moo refers to the paper as “matte laminate”… and if you’ve ever felt silk business cards that’s that’s a pretty good comparison. It’s silky and smooth and undoubtedly top quality. Their basic cards are also thicker than most other business cards in my collection. The colours (which is full color on both sides) appears vibrant, and the print very clear.

NOTE: Moo’s standard cards are ideal if you plan to have full bleed photography on your cards.

Moo’s Luxe Business Cards:

Moo’s most recent offering is known as Luxe.

I ordered a 50 pack of the “Freud” design to give to my sister – as it is an ideal fit for her occupation as a social worker.

They are produced on super-thick 32-point paper, roughly double the thickness of their standard cards (and virtually triple the average business card). It is a difference you’ll feel immediately, as will the people you give them to.

The cards are not silky like their standard ones. They have a distinctive matte feel, of fine paper.

A distinguishing stripe of colour runs through the core of the stock – much like painted-edge business cards, however it’s just the center third, rather than the full side. And so should you look at a stack from the side, you will see alternating white, color, white. There are at least 4 colors to select from. A nice touch I think.

Luxe aren’t inexpensive, however the product quality and thickness make the extra expenditure very much worthwhile.

NOTE: Luxe is recommended for more subtle designs or artwork, instead of full bleed photos – which are better suited to Moo’s regular card stock.

Over-all Experience:

My over-all buying, personalization, & quality experience was very good. Moo’s online business card builder provides for rather uncomplicated layout, image upload and personalization, and the order process is streamlined and colored with style…

When you submit your order you receive a verification email from “Little Moo”… and after it’s processed you receive a verification that the order has advanced to “Big Moo” for producing. Not surprisingly, you receive a shipping and delivery notification too, making everything headache-free. What’s more, the order is packed and presented (particularly in the case of Luxe) to delight.

Thumbs up for Moo luxe business cards!
